Fab weekend in Nethy Bridge. Hope the recycling facilities cope with our empty bottles! Love the triple bunks. Must return with the kids.
We would like to thank both Richard and Trish for all the assistance that theygave to make our tour a great success, the flexibility of the catering arrangements and the opportunity to run our own bar only added to the enjoyment, hence our reason for booking again for the same time next year. Trish, many thanks for the emergency delivery of the kit we forgot to take to our last match, very much appreciated and saved us alot of embarrassment. See you both soon, Regards Peter
This is the 3rd time that we have visited Nethy House, and have booked again for next year. Need I say anymore. The accommodation is flexible to our needs, the food as always is excellent and feeding times flex around our needs. We added the Highland evening to our programme this year, the piper and introduction to Scottish dancing was an experience not to be missed. Both Richard and Trish ensured that our trip was a great success and we are counting down the weeks to next years trip already. Can reccomend the Lonark Highland Games, something for everyone as well as the Highland Folk Musemn. Thanks for everything and see you in Oct 11 for my next trip. Regards Peter
Once again the Nethy Station Bunkhouse provided the perfect resting place for our weary WolfTrek participants! Perfect location to access Abernethy Forest and a mere hop skip and a jump for our marshals from Aviemore who came to stay on Sunday night. Highly recommended for groups :-)
Well another stag up at Nethy is over with and we are sorry to leave! All the boys are raving about the accomodation and general setup. You are the perfect host and your relaxed nature put us all at ease although the numerous beers helped as well!! Hopefully we will be back in the future. Thank you so much again!
4 teachers with a group of 52 students I and two of my three colleagues stayed AGAIN with our pupils at Nethy House and the trip was a great trip for all of us. Our hosts Richard and Patricia made the trip a real experience and gave the kids to explore Scottish hospitality as well as an insight on the real scottish way of life. If possible, we teachers will be back again with new kids soon.
We,a French group stayed in Nethy House for 3 nights at the beginning of June 2011 and had a wonderful stay. The accommodation is very comfortable, with ample space for larger groups. The public games room complete with snooker table and darts is cosy and welcoming, and the dining room spacious and practical for groups. We had full board and the food was delicious, excellent value for money - our host ,Richard ,charming and a real asset as regards information about the area and practical advice. On our last evening,he organised a surprise Scottish evening, much appreciated by the French students and teachers-it really contributed to our visit of the country. The scenery around Nethy Bridge is beautiful and we enjoyed a very interesting visit of the Glenlivet Estate, the Osprey Hide and had a very instructive guided walk by Desmond from the RSPB in Abernety Forest. All of these visits were organised ahead of our visit by Richard to whom I am very grateful.Everything was just perfect.Thank you.
We had such a brilliant weekend staying at the Bunkhouses. Richard and Patricia were great and really looked after us. The facility was perfect for our group which was my sister's hen weekend so you can imagine what it was like for 13 girls all getting ready at the same time but there was more than enough room, plug sockets and mirrors :) we were made to feel really welcome and Richard and Patricia were always on the other end of the phone if we needed them or just up the road. I'd definitely recommend the bunkhouses to others, it really helped make our weekend!!!
A perfect setting for a reunion/birthday weekend for a mixed group in the Cairngorms! We stayed in the old station and couldn't really have asked for better, we just needed a base really as we were out and about all day both days but it was a great place to come back to in the evenings, we enjoyed bbq-ing on the old platform in the glorious Scottish weather and were made to feel extremely welcome by our hosts! Especially Richard who joined us for a drink in the evening and even gifted a lovely bottle of bubbly for the birthday girl! All in all the place was brilliant basic accomodation for a group of ~15 and we were made to feel exceptionally welcome. Couldn't have asked for better, and would recommend for people looking for a similar experience.
Our group stayed at Nethy Station bunkhouse during Easter 2010 and 2011. Both visits have been fantastic and we could not have asked for anymore. As the trip leader I would most certainly recommend this accommodation. The owners were incredibly friendly and it was a pleasure to stay. Thank-you to both Richard and Patricia for a pleasant and thoroughly enjoyed Canoe Tour! 10/10!
We had soooo much fun in that nice litte hostel! It is perfect for small or big groups as there is plenty of space for activities indoors and outdoors. Also, Richard and Patricia were very friendly :) I would defo recommend this to you!
Patricia and Richard were absolutely fantastic - they couldn't have been more accommodating to a stag do - they were extremely helpful in assuring that our weekend went to plan and were accommodating when we needed to get in early to refrigerate all our refreshments. I can speak on behalf of the tour group in saying that it was one of the most enjoyable weekends we have ever had. The bunkhouse is in such a great location and has all the space and equipment you require for a quality break in Scotland. Thank you both for making it such a memorable break.
Thanks for a great stay, the station was great for our group's holiday ice climbing in the Cairngorms: Excellent catering facilities, drying room, easy clean furnishings, heating and internet, made us all feel welcome. We were especially impressed with the booking policy with its flexibility on numbers (we had some fickle people, refusing to commit and/or changing their minds). We'd recommend the station to muddy smelly groups of comfort loving outdoorsy types, and we'll stay again. See you next winter. PS: loved the mini-bar
We used Nethy Bunkhoues for one of our winter courses in Feb 2010 staying in Nethy Station. It was an ideal place to run a medium sized group from and was comfortable enough for what you would expect from budget accommodation. The beer tap and the arrangement with the Cairngorm Brewery meant our clients were able to enjoy quality beer with each meal - where else will you find that in a bunkhouse on Speyside?? The proprietors - Richard & Patricia are extremely friendly, helpful and flexible and they will do their utmost to accommodate your needs. If we could give out gold stars Nethy Bunkhouses would certainly get 100!! Regrettably this year we could not get enough clients to come back but we will be looking to work with Richard & Patrica and come back to stay at Nethy Bunkhouses. In the future. Thank you, Iain Gallagher.
When looking for a place to stay with 60 university kayakers most places shy away but not nethy bunkhouse! Could not of asked for a better place to stay. Everything you could ever need and more, never mind your own bar (important for us students). The fire alarm also comes in very handy for getting 60 hungover students out there beds. Very clean and comfortable making the stay all the better. A fantastic place to stay accompanied by very considerate owners! Cant wait for next year....
I work for a charity called WildHearts which runs a large endurance event called the WolfTrek - a 45 mile run or walk from Forres all the way to Cairngorm Mountain. We have been delighted to use Nethy Station as the main 'Rest Stop' for our participants for the last 3 years - its in a perfect location right off the Speyside Way and just a minutes stroll into the village. There's great access too to Abernethy Forest and the paths around the river, which form the final section of our route. The kitchen facilities are brilliant - we use them right through the night to prepare over 200 rounds of soup and snacks for our weary participants and the dorms are great for enabling marshals and volunteers to get some rest. We will definitely be back again in 2011!
This time Nethy House was home to a family celebration and overflowing with relatives and friends, so many that we were forced to opt for the B&B right across the road - Tigh na Drochaid which we found extremely comfortable and well appointed and our hosts Sarina and Gilbert delightful. Only recently opened but so conveniently placed. HIghly recommended if the bunkhouse overfloweth.
Once again we had a fantastic trip away & the accommodation was absolutely spot on.... we'll definitely be back again. If you could organise the same weather & the same snow cover & conditions the next time we'd be delighted. Thanks
Thanks for a great weekend! The accommodation was exactly what we needed and the whole group had a very enjoyable time. I'm sure the saturday night will be remembered for a long time. Even the heavy snow didn't dampen spirits it just added to the occasion. And the drying room was brilliant, many people would have had an uncomfortable second day in wet clothes if it wasnt there. Again thanks for a great weekend, and our group willl hopefully be coming back soon!
Had an amazing hen weekend. The accommodation was brilliant, very clean and loved the surroundings. Wil definitely be back again.
What can i say about Nethy House, we had 2 groups booked in this year and have already booked for next year but with double the numbers, great place to stay, great scenary even when it rains, great company and excellent food, Trish and Richard are great hosts who are both committed to thier guest and ensuring that they get out what they put in to all activities. Richard, sorry for insisting that you joined the walk up Cairn Gorm, hope you have recovered and got over the cold you got. See you both soon and thank you from us all for a truely memorable trip. Peter
Brilliant place to stayfor a Hen weekend with a difference! We had lots of fun outdoors in the area and a great time chilling out inside at night with some bubbly! very clean ans spacious for a small group and excellent value for money!
I know that this is for our guests - but I hope that you will follow our lead and recycle your ink cartridges where possible. Not all are suitable. We use recycled cartridges when we can - but if we use the originals then we go to www. eachonecounts. co.uk Reuse Reduce Recycle
Thank you so much. We had a fantastic stay. You made everything so easy for us and we were able to just get on with enjoying the festival. The accommodation was fascinating and really good value. Will definately be back in the future!
We all enjoyed the weekend SO much, the place was perfect, and as for the cleaning, we just felt we should leave it how we found it! I have attached a few pictures of us at Nethy Station, and one from Landmark (which can definately be enjoyed by the over 20s by the way!!). Thanks again for making my birthday one to remember, hopefully we will be back, will definately keep Nethy in mind for any other gatherings or to recommend to others!
Hi Richard and Patricia, we returned safely to Bonn today at 2 p.m. Everybody was very, very satisfied and happy with their stay at Nethy House. I, Hartmut and they, thank you very much again for your hospitality and for getting involved so wholeheartedly into the needs and wishes of the young people and their teachers. You are doing a great job , honestly. Hope to see you again soon. Take care and bye for now.
Everybody had a great time staying at the bunkhouses, and they definately contributed to us having a fantastic wedding! We are much obliged for your efforts in helping us get everything sorted out at the bunkhouses and we look forward to returning in the not too distant future. We wish you all the best with your plans for a new bunkhouse and hope to catch up with you again next time we visit. Please pass on my regards to Patricia also. Thanks again
We as a group have always made a point of going somewhere new every year in our tours of Scotland, which is how we ended coming to you - this time as a first, everyone unanimously wanted to go back to Nethy Bridge - and no small part of that wish to return is down to the way you run the place yourselves, not just the bricks and mortar. Richard
We want to thank you for our great holiday we spent in your beautiful country. With your aid we were able to explore the Highlands better than we expected - especially during the 2 day mountain hike. Thanks you and best wishes to you and your family.
Dear Guestbook, we've had a fantastic time in the comfortable Nethy House. We enjoyed sleeping on 'shelves' and eating Patricia's delicious meals. We loved the tours through the Highlands and its impressive landscape. These were completed by the funny comments of our lovely 'guide' Richard. Each day ended up in cosy get-togethers. The interesting bar offered a lot of entertainment. As you can see we had a great stay but we were a little bit sad that we didn't meet Nessie. We thank our hosts for making this class-trip that wonderful!
Various members Sleeping in the original beds of 'Das Boot' was a very interesting experience! Thanks for teaching us the Scottish Rain Dance!
We came in thin and we went out fat Patricia & Richard saw to that! But the thing that impressed us by far, oh by far! Was the D-I-Y, self-service bar. A great place to stay!
All I can say is what a great place. Non-stop laughter, great people & a lovely setting, come together to make a great gem of a guest house.
You are great guys! I'm so glad I've known your hostel. Stay like that.
All those who took part enjoyed the break and requests have been forthcoming for a repeat trip next year. Your hospitality was excellent complimented by the high standard of food.
Terrific, Relaxed, Involved, Scrumptious, Helpful, & Resourceful, Irresistible, Charming, Hilarious, Awe-inspiring, Remarkable, Delightful &.Thank you both for a wonderful time! We think that it's just impressive that you've been so motivated to make our time at Nethy House very, very nice - it's not very often that you find owners of houses who are really interested in the groups and their time - we think you were great and we'll come back again& again &.
A Group of young Germans (quite messy) Once stayed in this house by the Nethy (1) They had lots of fun - Weenie rain - Lots of sun Thanks to Richard and Tricia, his lassie (1)Please remember to use German pronunciation!
Dear Patricia, Dear Richard, Thanks you so much for being so accommodating - I never thought that we would find such a place. I know everyone had a top time and it even snowed for us! We had the time of our lives here in Nethy Bridge - Nethy House is super - but the best are you two! Thanks for everything, we'll miss you and we wish we could take you both back with us - lif at our school would be so much more fun.
We have all had a brilliant time and have been most comfortable. We have all got full tummies and squints from trying to see the Smurfs in the 3D pictures. Thank you very much. Can't wait to come back.
Dear Richard , Dear Patricia, We really enjoyed our stay here in Nethy Bridge? It was a marvellous time and we really appreciate your help and support, as well as your patience and your tips. We definitely want to come back.
Observation: Is there a similarity between Richard Eccles in Nethy Host mode and Basil Fawlty?
