Are there any Extras?

We aim to ensure that Group Organisers know exactly what they are paying before they arrive. Our prices are clearly laid out and anything which may affect the price after booking is laid out below.

Linen

Laundry packs are availble to hire

We have a duvet and pillow on each bed.
1 We encourage our groups to bring their own duvet cover, sheet, pillowcase and towels. This is not only going to save you money, but is also greener because it reduces the need for deliveries and heavy duty linen cleaning.
2 If you bring sleeping bags, you will need to bring a pillowcase and towels
3 You can hire a full pack of linen from a laundry in Inverness, but please note this must be ordered at least 3 weeks in advance to allow for delivery and at £5 per pack it works out expensive for short stays.

Heating

Suitable clothing is always advisable

Cooking, hot water and lighting costs are included in your bed price. Please remember that we only add the heating charge to your contract for bookings between the start of October & end of April. From May to September there will be a small charge if you wish to have the heating on and we would deal with that payment at the time. (Approx £1 per person, per day)
As a Green business, we would encourage sweaters and warm clothes to be worn in cooler weather, and the doors and windows closed, before a request for heating is made. As Sir Ranulph Fiennes once said "There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing."

Food - what we can arrange for you

For £8.75 per day, per head, we are able to purchase a list of basic items and bring down an evening meal for you if you wish.
You help yourselves to:
Breakfast: cereal & toast
Lunch: a piece of fruit & the basics for a sandwich
Evening meal: two courses, geared to the weather, group type and activities partaken.
We leave out what we know that you need for the day and tea and coffee are available at all times. Snacks, drinks, chocolates and anything else that you feel needs to be topped up, should be purchased by individuals according to their own taste. You wash-up the cutlery, crockery & glassware only.
This is aimed at keeping the work, planning and cost down for organisers - it is not a 'Gourmet Option!'

Food - things to note

Nethy House Dining Room

I would need to know at least one week in advance how many of the party are vegetarians. Unfortunately, due to storage restrictions, we are not able to deal with special diets and other allergies, but if I am told in advance, I will do my best to take them into account. A microwave is available for those who need to provide for their own particular needs.
We wash all the pots and pans. You are responsible for cleanliness of the house, as usual.

Both houses have microwaves, fridges, freezers and a constant hot water boiler available at all times.

If you are self-catering then you can organise a Tesco order to be delivered to you.

Food - weekend groups

We recommend that groups who are not travelling together to Nethy Bridge in one vehicle should pick up a meal on the way. We have partners who are able to give you a good meal in Aviemore or Grantown, depending on where you are travelling form. If you contact them ahead and there is then no worry about travel time and hold-ups!

That Special Meal - Fine Dining

Good Highland Food

Some groups want to splash out on a really good meal. For that, we have the perfect partner in Good Highland Food. Mike cooks very special food and you can enjoy a feast worthy of a king knowing that you have not had to pay for a castle! He can do anything from a barbeque or a 5 course meal and all brought to you with no need to travel.

Other Costs

oor Pet Haggis

Damage/Cleaning Charges: Levied if necessary after a full check has been carried out. Some charges are subject to a 10% administration fee.
Cleaning: per hour (if required on handover) £1000
Linen: Any duvet used without a cover has to be cleaned @ £10.00.
Keys: per lost key £6.00 (Master Key £10.00)

WiFi - Openzone & Fon

Because there is no office on the premises we have had to find alternative Broadband solutions. Both properties now have BT Openzone wi-fi (part of the worldwide Fon network)
Those connected to the Openzone or Fon networks will have free access according to their own account.
BTinternet customers can enable their own HomeHub to allow external access (this is quite safe) and you will get free wi-fi when out and about and here at Abernethy Bunkhouses
Group leaders should request the network key for access from us on arrival. Due to bandwidth restrictions, we advise that there should be only a couple of users within each group, or you will find access very slow!
